So Girls Rock is a one day STEM event.
We offer eight different workshops this year.
We try to inspire the girls for future endeavors in science, technology, engineering, and math.
Just give them an exposure to different elements that they don't receive in their daily life.
This is actually Girls Rock's 15th year of presenting the program.
It was founded by a member of the 3 organizations, Soroptimus, Zonta, and AAUW.
And they really wanted an opportunity for girls to be exposed to STEM because there is a tendency for young girls to shy away from being smart in middle school.
The three women that came together said, We want to do something that showed the girls that STEM is fun and there's lots of career activities available for them.
We also wanted them to have the opportunity to bond with an adult so the girl and the adult are actually spending quality time together having a fun experience.
We want them to know that there are careers are vast and, opportunities galore for them to explore.
And I think Girls Rock instills confidence in these young girls.
Oh, anytime the girls can have exposure to knowledge and experiences to inspire them to look at what's offered for them in the future.
Most girls my age never thought that they could be an engineer.
And today that's a very viable option for them.
You know, and science encouraging them to get in there and learn about science and help our country, help the people of our world.
